We hope you all had a lovely half-term week. We would like to offer a warm welcome to Milo who is joining us this week. For the rest of this term, we will start to look at the Spring season, looking at new growth and baby animals. On Tuesday 26th March, we have a visit from Zoolab, who will be giving an hours presentation on spring animals, and bringing along some special animal guests – more information will be given nearer the time!
Our visits to the primary school will continue to take place on Wednesday mornings, and will now include visits to the reception classroom on alternate Wednesdays. We will also start to look at planting some new things in our patch of the eco garden on the Wednesdays that we are not in the classroom.
Nearer the end of term, on Friday 29thMarch, we are planning to hold our progress afternoon, giving you all the chance to come in and chat to your child's keyperson and review their learning journal. We would love to see you all and share your child's achievements this term, and you will be able to help us set new targets or discuss any concerns you may have. A schedule will be put out in the entrance hall in a couple of weeks time.
Could we please remind everyone to put their child's snack in a named container or bag which can be placed in the snack box provided in the entrance hall, so that staff can easily see whose is whose. Your child's snack should consist of a portion of fruit or veg, but if you feel this is not enough, you are welcome to supply plain crackers or breadsticks alongside this. We aim to promote a healthy snack time, so please avoid sweet biscuits or treats. If your child has any particular dietary requirements, please feel free to speak to us about it. It is also really helpful if you could ensure that the fruit is chopped and ready to eat if necessary - your help with this is much appreciated.
Lunchboxes – again, we promote a healthy diet at preschool, so please try to provide at least one portion of either fruit or vegetables in your child's lunch, and they will be encouraged to eat this before moving onto items such as crisps or biscuits. If you could cut up fruit or veg that would be very helpful, particularly grapes which are a potential choking hazard. Please do not supply sweets or fizzy drinks in lunchboxes as they will be returned home. We are happy for you to supply a squash or fruit juice drink for your child to have with their lunch, but we will always make sure that water is supplied at lunchtime for any children without a drink. In line with other settings, we are a nut-free pre-school, so please check labels if you are unsure whether anything contains nuts.
Please could we request that children are discouraged from bringing their own toys into pre-school. It can cause upset if other children want to play with them, and can be so easily lost amongst the other pre-school toys.
Uniform – this is optional, but if you are considering this, pre-school uniform is available to order via our website - please take a look!
